The., annual Sale of Work of St. Stephen's Church will be held on Friday, 14th September, in the Church-room, Woburn Road. The Sale will be opened at 2.30 p.m., by the Moderator of the Presbytery, Rev. Ronald Watson, and there will be stalls of every kind:—A novel Kitchen Stall, "White Eelephant" Stair*, Home-made Cakes, Sweets, Plain Sewing and Knitting, Aprons, Novelties a Bran Tub for the children, JBlowers, Plants, etc.. In the evening a concert proi gramme and competitions have been arranged and altogether a most enjoyable time is promised. Admission is free. Mr, C. B. Robinson, of White's Line, supplies the following:—The official rainfall for the month of August is 14.17 inches. Rain fell on 15 days. This is said to be the heaviest August rainfall for many years.

The attention of the public is drawn to the notice pf the Plunket Society's dance, particulars'of which will be found in our advertising columns. It is hoped the general public will support this effort as the Society is much in need of funds. Excellent music is to be provided and no pains are spared to make the fixture a success. Tickets may be had from the secretary or Plunket nurses. Speaking to the Plunket Society lady delegates who visited Riddiford Park last Saturday morning, Mr. Strand said I that £650 had been spent on the children >s play grounds during the last two | years, and he still had £750 to spend for the same purpose This money had all been donated voluntarily by ladies and gentlemen who would not allow their identity to be disclosed. We understand that Mr. Geo. Blake, of Blake's News Agency, Randwick Road, has been appointed hon. secretary to the Waiwetu Parents' Association.
