THE WAIWETU PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION.

The meeting of the "Waiwetu Progressive Association held, on Tuesday to consider the question of forming a garden club was presided over by Mr. A. J. Nieholls. Mr. Nicholls addressed ihe meeting on the objects and management of a garden club. He also outlined the Horticultural Society's intention for the next year in regard to the holding of competitions and shows and he trusted that members of the garden*club, if formed, would enter into those functions. He then introduced Mr Copping* who give an interesting address on "Manuring and the treatment of new gardens.'' His address was listened, to with great interest and at the conclusion was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. He-also answered a number of questions. An apology was received from Mr. Ball who was to have lectured, but who was unavoidably detained. The meeting then discussed the forming of a garden club and a motion was then moved and carried that such, a club be formed in connection "vvith the Associai tion. A sub-committee consisting of Mrs C. B. Robinson and Messrs Lee j.nd. T7hiteman with Mr. B. H. Inder as secretary, was then appointed to deal with this side of the Association's activities. Arrangements had already been made for the purchase of "club orders 1' of lime, fertilisers and plants, and the secretary was instructed to take orders for supplies of these.
