JThe weekly euchre party was held on Tuesday night and was largely attended. The ladies' prize was won by Mrs G. Hunt and Mr. F. Bartosh was sue- ' cessf ul in securing . the gent's prize. Players were most enthusiastic and a .most enjoyable' evening was spent.

Market gardeners report that the recent storm played havoc with their early crops, and has considerably retarded their progress. Cabbages and ■cauliflowers and young seedings suffered considerably and are showing the Tfjpjit of the damage that has been, wrought. * *' • ♦ Taita is fast becoming "the home of motor cycles." and one often sees these motor cycle enthusiasts trying them out on the Main Road. The writer puts forward the suggestion that enthusiasts should form a motor cycling club.

The maniage will take place on 'Wednesday, September 12th, of Alma", only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Searle, of Taita, to Gerald Lionel Carter, son of Mrs. Carter, of Lower Hutt.

George Gorrie and.Ted Bartosh represented Taita in the Junior Trial game held last Saturday at Wakefield Park, Wellington. Both boys played a good game and Gorrie was successful in scoring a try. On their play they are sure to be selected for the Junior rep. team, which is to tour the South Island.

A football match which always creates much excitement will be played at the Taita ground on Saturday week, when Married Men v. Single Men. This game will mark the close of the football season as far as Taita is concerned.

The Taita junior team has had a most successful season after taking everything into consideration, and are to be -congratulated on their play -and keenness shown throughout the year. They have a good average to their credit and the hope is expressed that next year Taita will hold the championship, which was won this year by Poneke.

Primary school rep. teams from Wais~rarapa, Manawatu and Wellington district met in their annual tournament at Lyall Bay last Saturday; George Cade, who represented Taita, played a good game in the forwards.

A few months ago when* an addition was made to the Methodist Church at Taita, so that it might be adequate for "the needs of the church people there, a Ladies' Guild was formed and commenced preparing for a sale of work.. On 15th September next, a Sale of "Work will be held in the Taita Public Hall, at which there will be stalls full of useful articles for all. Cakes, fancy work, plain sewing, produce, sweets, • dips and bran tubs will be in evidence, while a number of new and original competitions will try the skill of young and old. The proceeds of the bazaar will go to "nape off the debt on the church-room.
