Sir, —Some little while ago I read with interest a letter from the secretary of .the Cycling Club in which he put the case for the cyclists, urging that they should be allowed to ride their vehicles on the bitumen. Since that letter appeared, I have had occasion to drive locally and on the Hutt Eoad at different hours of the day and night, and have had for.cably brought to my notice the danger'in which cyclists place themselves both in the day light and in the darkness. When cars ;are passing one another,, particularly, the cyclists axe in real danger, and I think for their own sake they should be warned off. —I am 'etc.,
