On Saturday the Senior A eleven met and drew with 'Varsity on the Hutt Becreation Ground. The game was fairly even and quiet in the first half but developed into a very strenuous contest in the second spell. Matters were in the balance and it was anybody's game until the final whistle. The rough nature of the ground prevent good play. In the first half Diamond at inside right scored the only goal in this spell for Hutt. On the resumption of play Simpson equalised for the visitors and Lewis put them ahead shortly afterwards. It was left to K. Lusty to equalise the score and he put the local team in the lead, but Fraser with a first-timer added another goal for 'Varsity and the game ended three goals each. The Senior B team met and defeated Training College on the Kilbirnie Recreation ground to the tune of 6 goals to I nil. College took the field at full ' strength but Hutt were minus their ' outside left and right-half, the latter ■ turned up after about five minutes play leaving Hutt with ten men. Play was very scraggy and midway through the first spell Doy of the College team was struck by the ball above the eye and I had to retire. One man from each side went with him to the doctor, but after, three stitches had been inserted above i : the eye, Day returned. Before the end j of this spell Hutt scored three goals, \ Wright two and Loader one. On the resumption of play Training College resumed with only nine men men and ■ Hutt played their goal-keeper on the left-wing. Wright, Hodgkinson and i Clelland each added to Hutt's score and the game ended: Hutt 6, Training College 0. TTif .Tn*M^r- •"* 'Varsity B. by 5 goals to 1. Scorers for Hutt were Judd 2, Bell, MacParlane and Murray. The Thirds defeated Wellington by 3 goals to 2, Scorers for Hutt were Phillips 3 coals.
