Lower Hutt Bowling and Tennis Club.

TENNIS SECTION. The above Club held a most successful social evening in their Pavilion on Wednesday, 17th inst. The first half of the evening was devoted to cards, a pleasant and enjoyable time being spent by all around the tables. After cards were finished the company partook of supper, during which the President (Mr. Burgess) spoke a few words and also distributed the prizes to the successful card players. The following musical items were much appreciated:—Vocal duet, Misses Taylor; violin solo, Mr. E. C. Taylor; recitation, Miss Burnley; clarionet solo, Mr. E. Young. Community singing was then taken up by the company, which brought a most successful evening to a close. BOWLING CLUB JOKES. Do you know that Mick and Jock didn't try to win the card prize at the card evening; they preferred to play Pairs instead of Full Rin^s. Why? Harry B. was quite good at clipping, but his strong point is telling a good joke. The President was in his element, his curly locks being very conspicuous. A question was asked: Why did Joe remain King so long? Answer was, because he always had a Queen with him. Maurice seemed to go back to childhood days and played Little Jack Homer. Must have had tickets on that corner. The Tennis Committee wish to thank all those who helped towards making the evening such a success.
