HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTIONS
PROGRESSIVE POLICY ENDORSED BY THE ELECTORS As forecasted in our previous issue, the result of the local Borough elections was a foregone conclusion, and resulted in the return of all those members of the previous Council who again offered their services. It is gratifying to find that the electors of this Borough appreciate the progressive policy pursued by the outgoing Council, and sp ably led by our worthy Mayor (Mr. W. T. Strand), whose services they acknowledged by once again returning him unopposed. Councillors Watkins and Teagle did not seek re-election, and their places around the "horse shoe" will be filled by Sir Alexander Roberts (who topped the poll) and Mr. F. Campbell. After the Town Clerk had announced the result of the Doll, candidates, both those elected, and defeated, returned thanks. A word of praise is due to the returning officer (Mr. B. J. Knox, and his staff) for the excellent organisation in connection with the poll, as evidenced in the accuracy of the returns and the early announcement of the results, the recount only showing very slight alterations from those announced from the platform, and these were accounted for by the declaration votes. The following are the results: ROBERTS, A. F 1154 HOBBS, A. J. . ■ 1134 McBAIN. A 1114 GRIERSON, A 1054 HUNT, E. W 1024
