NEW PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

An interesting ceremony was gone through on Saturday afternoon last when the founaation stone of the new Presbyterian Church was laid. A large number of residents and visitors assembled at the ground and the proceedings were considerably enlivened with some choice sacred pieces played by the local Band. After an earnest prayer by the Rev. Mr AlcKinney a hymn was sung and then Mrs A. Robertson set the foundation stone in position with trowel and mortar, —several persons according to old custom placed various coins beneath the stone—and declared that the Church should be dedicated to St. John. Mr Brent here made a few remarks and a short address was given by the Rev. Mr AlcKinney followed by the benedidtion after which the meeting dispersed.
