Though the days have been mild and pleasant for the most part some sharp frosts have been experienced. The ranges still bear their wintry appearance and oue morniug lately Tauhara was " crowned with a diadem of snow." We were glad to see by last week's Oiikonicle that tenders were called for the new school building. We hope that duo expedition will be made with its erection. The estimates were very favorably received here, the provision made for works both here ar.d at Toknanu being considered very liberal. The £4OO nmde available for expenditure on the Domain should be sufiicientto make theplacoattraetivetovisitors. The Tokaanu wharf, for which £2OO is set down, will be of equal adadvantngo to residents and tourists. It has been a great desideratum for some time % nnd a structure of the sort is much needed at the Taupo end. The item (£300) for the TaupoTokannu road would bo well expended and ut tho same time nicely absorbed in bridging the TaurangaTaupo river. This ia a work that must be done sooner or later and if " 'tis to be done then 'twere well, 'twere done quickly." Our local sanatoriums—Joshua's Spa and Koss's Terraces, are looking very inviting in their Spring garb each possessing its own attractive features and distinctive beauties.
