MAMAKU

[IIIOM OTJIt OTVX COUItESI'OXDEXT,] A football match between Kusabs' Mamaku sawmill employees and the Ngatua Tapapa Football Clubs was played at Ngatua on Thursday last and resulted in a win for the Sawdust Boys by one point after a very close and exciting game. Mamaku scored two tries which were obtrined by Wharo-wera and Barnes, and Ehuka scored a try for Tapapa from which. Thompson, the captain, kic'-ed a goal. The Tapapa Club was captained by Mr Thompson and Mr Given for Mamaku. Mr E. Kusabs acted as referee and Mr Enoka and Mr E. Quain as lineumpiros for Tapapa and Mamaku respectively. During the progress of the game the most friendly feeling existed and the decisions of the referee gave every satisfaction. After the close of the game the visitors were invited to adjourn to the large meeting house where a sumptuous dinner was laid and after full justice had been done to the good things laid before them the tables were cleared and speechmaking, singing and dancing indulged in until the arrival of the train, on which the Mamaku tcum embarked amidst cheers and hearty wishes for a return match. The hospitality and good feeling exhibited towards the visitors by the Ngatua and Tapapa people will long be remembered by the Mamaku Club. It is the intention of the Clubs to hold a return match at the same place early next month to be followed by a ball.
