ROTORUA PROSPECTING ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Prospecting Association took place in the Grand Hotel on Friday night Mr Brent in tlio chair. There was a large attendance, including several influential natrresfroni Horohoro. It was' annonnced that the number of shares at, which it had been proposed to close the Est had been applied for. The-natives present, through Mr Dansey, stated that some of them had already joined the Association and would do everything in their power to assist it. As far as Horohoro was concerned it had been proved that gold existed there both in the reef and in alluvial. A European had been out at' their village a month or two ago. He was experienced in geology and came from the- Thames School of Mines. He had taken specimens from the reef and promised to lot them know the result. They had been annoyed by other pakehas coming"on their land and ignoring them. Holes were sunk and left open for their cattle to fall into. They looked to a properly organised association stopping this sort of thing and going to work to systematically develop the place. The terms on which they would agree to the Association prospecting on their land could be easily arranged. If the Association selected prospectors and sent them out they would receive- every assistance . After some further discussion Mr Dansey was elected treasurer and Mr Williams secretary, and it was decided to hold a meeting of members only on the follow-
