THE NATIVE PARLIAMENT.

The native Parliament or Kotahitanga goes into session at Tokaanu on March 28th. The election of representatives has certainly been conducted in a most unobtrusive manner and in that respect is worthy of imitation by their European brethren. Fourteen members word elected as representatives of the various sections i.i the neighborhood and over 900 votes wore recorded altogether. To Awahou—Erucra Hori Karaka (01), Matenga toWaharoa (40). Ngati Pikiao, Mourea —Te AVirchana Tamati (;59). Ngati Pnkepga, Maketu—Hirama Mokopapaki (42). Motoiti and Maketu* Timi Waata Rimini (41). We understand that, preparations on an extensive scale are being made at Tokaanu for the reception of the natives on the occasion. The Courthouse which was erected by subscription for the sittings of the Land Court', has, we are informed, been pulled down and small whares erected with the material. The natives allege they were directed to do this by their king.
