" The Host of Hell's Gates," by which Miltonian expression wo moan Mi- l>, McCrory whose earavariscfrai at the Inferno, Tikitere, is by force of contrast called •' Paradise Whore," submitted the subjoined verses to us the other day. Ho entered our sanctum at a critical .moment when wo were wrestling with the difficulties of publishing a. day ahead of our usual time, and extracted from us a promise to publish some " poetry about Tikitere." We keep our promise, but apologise to our readers for thrusting upon them a slab of the veriest doggerel we have yet met with, but an excellent advertisement for "McCrory, Esquire":— Tiiciteiuc. There's a place in the world which many don't know; By the name you would think its a place full of woo. "Hell's Gates " is the' name of this won- . . derful " Hole," To look at it almost makes your blood cold, Close by, orncar to, is "Paradise Whare." Where the kind host makes you at horn- . without worry, Ho is kind, and congenial, and awfcpdci - ful cook, But the best plan to prove ife|£a f to go there and look. M The name of our host is — —McCrorv. Esquire. For anything better you need not desire. J.C.A.
