A story comes from India about a "sportam" who hunts tigers by the electric light at night. He sits ou a raised platform in the jungle and suspends a five-candle power incandescent lamp over the bait, which is placed about 30 ft away. Batteries supply current for the light, and a switch on the hunter's riflo onables him to throw on the light when he is ready to shoot. The light tends to temporarily blind the tiger, and a good shot can bo had before his eyes become accustomed to it. "Yes," said he, "I'm a man of peace, and I'll have it, if I have to fight for it." \\ hen the color begins to desert a woman's face she often takes to painting, and then she never deserts her color. Cholly: "I shall blow my hwains out if you refuse me." "She: "The days of miracles aro over." Of Auckland Hospital troubles thorn appears to b 9 no end. We understand that owing, it is alleged, to breaches of discipline the matron has deemed it expedient to suspend one of the nurses, and to recommend thnt the training of some other nurses bo discontinued.
