Captain Wrigl was known in the history of Victor as the captain of the barque Nelso: which was attacked on the night [ April 2nd, 1852, the eve of her pr posed voyage. She carried a consigr ment of over 3,0000z of gold. It captain was known to be ashore ma! ing final preparations for next day' departure, when the vessel was boardi by twenty-two desperadoes, wl. readied her sirle in hoats with mui!!; oarß. They seized and bound tie crew, having wounded the mate an freely used their firearms. They car ried off the gold, and threw the arm found in the vessel, with the cannc on the quarter-deck, overboard, ma!; ing good for the time their escapi Finally, however, several of them wei taken, and a number tried, foun guilty and executed. Subsequent! the captain became the owner or coast ing vessels, and was for a number c years engaged in the customs.
