SENSATIONAL MURDER TRIAL.
A most sensational trial for murder, iu which a great ileal of public interest t lias been manifested, came to en cr.d j in New York recently. Annie Young was indicted for tlio murder of her husband. She was, in accordance with American custom, allowed to testify on her own behalf, and was the only witness for the defence. She said that on the night of the murder her husband came home drunk, and on her mother speaking to him he struck her on the face. She went to the assistance of her mother, when her husband seized her by the hair and, dragging her across tho room, drew a revolver fromhis pocket and threatened to kill her. She caught his wrist and struggled with him into the dark hall, whore die succeeded in turning the pistol away from her and towards him. lie pulled tho trigger while it was in that position and fell dead on the spot. The jury, without lea-sing their seats, brought in a verdict of ' Not guilty,' and the prisoner was acquitted. It is noteworthy that tho counsel for the prosecution refused to cross-examine her.
