FOR TRAVELLERS
ARRIVING SPICK AND SPAN (Different methods of locomotion give rise to special problems and you’ll find tdiat although the basis of your travelling beauty box remains the same as your routine beauty case, there are some things which can be changed and some which cannot be omitted, if comfort and good grooming are your aim. Since we have several means of transport to most places on this globe, let us take the newest one first, that is by aeroplane. The main essential to remember, if you intend to reach your destination by this means, is that lightness and compactness for space and weight matter very much to the authorities of the air.
Instead of a heavily fitted beauty case, acquire one of those new and very handy little watei proofed silk bags, which can be bought anywhere either fully fitted or with small compartments into which you can put youi favourite creams and lotions.
Instead of a cream, use a liquid pieparation for cleansing the face and neck. It is much easier to handle and certainly less messy. There are several preparations on the market which not only cleanse and tone, but leave the skin, in most cases, ready for the make-
up. Need it be stressed that the make-up should be fairly light if the journey lasts more than a few hours, and an important point to remember is never to have jars or bottles filled to the top when flying at high altitudes. They will either blow their tops off or burst. This is something to do with air pressure, and if forgotten is likely to make your trip less pleasant than it should be. Train travelling can be done in comfort under practically any conditions if you have in your little beauty bag cleansing cream, skin tonic nnd lotion for bathing the eyes, also si firm hairbrush. Unless travelling in an air-condition-ed carriage there is no avoiding the dust and grit, which settles over everything. Very necessary is a clothes biush and a packet of cleansing tissues. \ou certainly can’t look fresh if your clothes ai\d hat need brushing and you’ll find innumerable uses for the tissues, from cleaning your glasses and your shoes to using as a towel. Cotton wool and ai small bottle of eau de Cologne or laven-i der water are also invaluable. j Travelling by car or boat, there more need for soothing and piotccting creams. If you tic your head in a, brightly coloured hankie, rub a protective cream on your face, and keep the glare from your eyes by means of darkened glasses and use a bright lipstick, you’ll come through a giueiling car trip looking cpiite colourful and; certainty not suffering any ill-effects j from the weather. I Always bear in mind the fact that you can be burnt by wind and reflected sunshine, and use a heavily protective cream because, after all, travelling is no fun if you find yourself and complexion arc not what they were when you set out. .
