TYRE VALVE REMOVAL.
Most motorists of some years' standing- are aware that the dust cover Jitled over a tyre valve was for many years so designed that, when reversed, it formed a little spanner for unscrew-' ing the interior portion of the valve. I'or. some curious reason, tyre manufacturers have lately adopted a dust cover, which cannot be used in this way. and there has been many cases of motorists on tour who have not noticed this, finding themselves without any means of lemoving a faulty valve inside so that a new one could be in-, sorted. !
The motorist, who is setting off on a long country run, is well advised to examine these dust covers to see whether they are the new type and, if they are. to obtain one of the old type so that the valve can lie removed if necessary. Even better is a little combination tool si..,"ked by mof.t accessory dealers.
It is shaped at one end to fit the top of the valve inside, aTui also carries a thread-cutting tap for straightening out valve threads which have been damaged as a result of careless valve removal or lvp.aceniyi.t.
