Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Wingfield, Ohau, leave to-day on a lour of the North Island.
Mr. G. Petherick, Wellington, is at present convalesing in Levin after his recent illness and is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Walker.
Rt. Rev. H. Holland, Bishop of Wellington, is making- an excellent recovery following an operation. He returned home to Bishopscourt from hospital on Saturday and left for the country to complete his recovery.
A London cable message reports the death of the well-known playwright and author, Edgar Middleton, at the age of 45. Mr. Middleton besides his literary ability took an active interest in political affairs being Liberal Caninpolitical affairs being Liberal Candidate for East Islington. Among his writings was “The Great Man in the Air,” “A history of the Air in the War,’’ in four volumes. One of his best known plays ’was “Potiphar’s Wife.”
The death occurred yesterday of Mrs. McArthur, Avife of Rev. J. D. McArthur, of Blenheim, and formerly minister in charge of the Methodist Church, Levin. During her residence in Levin the deceased lady made a wide circle of friends, by whom she Avas held in the highest esteem for her charm of manner and high ideals. Besides her husband, two daughters, Misses Margaret and Air dr e McArthur, are left to mourn their loss, and the sympathy of their many friends Avill be Avith them in their bereavement.
