A Bill to make further provision for the treatment of cancer was read a first time in the House of Commons. The main purpose of the Bill is to establish a cancer service under which lU V[ e P' part of the c °u»try modern facilities for the diagnoses and treatment of cancer would be available. The Bill places an obligation on the major local authorities to consult with the Eadium Commission and bodiej representing voluntary hospitals and the local nvedical profession and to prepare and submit for the approval of the Minister arrangements for securing facilities for the treatment of cancer adequate for the needs of the areas concerned.
