PORK PRICES RISE.

LEVIN STOCK SALE. LATE RATES MAINTAINED. There was a good attendance of buyers at the weekly stock sale held at the Levin yards on Tuesday. Porkers were in short supply and the prices returned showed a rise of over 2s 6d per head. A good entry of sheep was offered and fats sold well, but some lines of store hoggets did not meet with keen competition. A large yarding of cattle came forward. Higher prices were paid for good quality beef, while other classes of stock in this section brought full late rates.

Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., give the following range of prices:— Pigs: Light porkers, £2, £2 2s, £2 ss; medium do., £2 16s, £2 18s, £3, £3 ss; heavy do., £3 10s, £3 lis, £3 16s; choppers,' £2, £3 2s; sow and litter, £6 10s; sows to farrow, 32s 6d; slips, 12s Od, 15s, 16s, 17s, 19s; stores, 255.

The New- Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., quote the following realisations: — Pigs: Light porkers, 235, 265, 27s 6d, 30s; medium do., 335, 35s 6d, 37s 6(1, £2 to £2 ss; heavy do., £2 10s, £2 14s, £3, £3 3s to £3 13s; stores, los, 17s 6d, 20s, 245.

Sheep : Fat ewes to 19; fat hoggets, 16s to 18s 6d; forward hoggets, 7s 3d to 12s 3df ewes. 19s to 21s 2d.

Cattle: Light fat cows, £3 10s, £4, £4 10s medium do., £4 17s 6d, £5 ss, £5 10s, £5 12s 6d;; heavy do., £7, £7 10s, £8 to £8 10s; fat builocks, £9 15s tc £lO 12s 6d; vealers, £1 16s, £2 lis, £2 15s, £3 os to £4 is; store cows, 30s, £2 £3 2s 6d; weaner heifers to £3 2s 6d. 'Dairy Cattle: Springing cows, £7, £7 10s, £8 10s to £ll 15s; late calving cows, £4 10s, £5 ss, £5 17s 6d; heifers in calf, £6. Fifteen dairy cows offered on account of Mr. Turnbull averaged £6 15s. The cows were in good condition and met with a ready sale. Prices for this stock ranged as under: July calvers, £7 ss, £7 10s, £7 15s to £8 10s; August do., £6 10s, £6 15s, £6 17s 6d to £7; September-October do., £4 10s., £5, £5 5s to £5 10s.
