DEAN DETTON’S DECISIVE WIN.
MORE EXPERIENCED AND STRONGER THAN EVER (By Telegraph—Preso Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. Never fully 'extended Dean Detton, world champion professional heavyweight wrestler of a year ago, beat Jack Kennedy at the Town Hall,"Wellington, to-night by two falls, a penalty and a dump following an aeroplane spin. Detton retaining to New Zealand more experienced and with even liner physique than before gave a hint of his great potentialities. Perhaps because it was felt Kennedy was no match for him the crowd was a smaller one than might have been expected to be drawn by so renowned a wrestler. The penalty fall was given against Kennedy for driving his knee into the pit of Detton s stomach, temporarily incapacitating him.

Vincent Lopez, of Mexico, one of the world’s foremost wrestlers, made his first appearance in Auckland when he lost on a disqualification to Pat Fraley, the Canadian cowboy. The first fall was obtained by Fraley in the second round, when, after his opponent had failed with a flying tackle off the ropes, the Canadian tripped Lopez with a flying toe-hold, to which the latter immediately submitted. Early in the sixth round Lopez felled his opponent with a series of powerful fore-arm jolts and then pounced upon him to equal tho falls with a body-.
press, , The gong had just sounded for the commencement of the seventh round when Lopez sent Fraley sprawling with a solid jolt to the jaw. The referee at once interceded and awarded the match
to Fraley on a disqualification. Lopez protested amid a pandemonium of: cheering and hooting.
