(Received Thi,s Day, 10.50 a.m.) LONDON, July 11. There is strong advocacy of the Manchester proposal to abandon the Australian cricketers’ matches against Scotland and Durham In favour of a substitute Test at Manchester from August 4th to Bth. It is understood that Lancashire is favourable. It is thought the counties will willingly release the Test players for the sake of the extra pool to the counties. The advocates point to a precedent by the extra Tests against New Zealand in 1931. There was no rain at Manchester between 1 p.m. and fi.3o p.m. The forecast is for but it is hoped a few hours’ play will be possible on Tuesday
