HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION.

MEETING- OF COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the management committee of the Horowhenna Rugby Football Union was held last evening at Levin. There were present: Mr, Nepia Winiata (chairman), and Messrs. A. Holder, J. Devonshire, A. Gillespie, W. Seymour, H. McMillan, J. B. Bateman, W. Hannan (life member), W. C. Childs (referees), J. W. Rimmer (treasurer) and J. Casey (secretary). Votes of Condolence. The chairman mentioned that recently Mr. •Williams, of the Referees’ Association, had lost his father, and Mr T.. Carter, a member of the union, his sister, and those present stood for a few moments as an expression of sympathy. Correspondence. Mr. T. Xohika, secretary of the Shannon Club, Avrotc stating that Mr. R. Carter had been elected a member of that club. The secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Union wrote, expressing regret that Maori, players were selected from the Horowhenna Union without notification, and advising that the matter was being taken up with the Maori Advisory Board. The secretary of the Wanganui Rugby Union wrote, stating that the Wanganui Union was endeavouring to visit Horowhenna during the present season and would notify a date as soon as possible. Loan of Jerseys. Mr. .1. W. Rimmer moved and Mr. A. Gillespie seconded that the Foxton players who loaned jerseys for the use of the junior representative players be thanked for their generosity. Football Queen Carnival.

Mr. Riminer commented on the meeting convened in the interests of the proposed queen carnival to be held in (lie hand-room to-night at 8 p.m., and urged local members of the union to show their interest by being present. Purchase of Rep. Jerseys.

On the motion of Mr. A. Gillespie, seconded by Mr, Holder, it was resolved to purchase a set of 20 representative jerseys. Rep. Coach. Mr. Holder moved and Mr. Gillespie seconded that Mr. D. luvw be appointed coach to the Horowhenua representative team. Return Match With Manawatu. It was resolved to write to the Manawatu Rugby Union, asking them to arrange a date for the return representative match. Saturday’s Fixtures.

Paraparanmu, at Paraparaumu, Mr. G. Rhodes. Northern District : Wanderers v. Afoutoa, at Foxton, Air. E. Robinson; Athletic v. Shannon, at Prouse's Paddock, Air, R, Pene. Thirds : Athletic v. Foxton, at Foxton, Mr. C. T. Wildsmith; Shannon v. Rahui, at Shannon, Mr. H. Hemi.
