SMART ARREST ON MARIPOSA.
MAN WANTED IN SYDNEY
, (By Telegraph—-Press, Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. An intending''passenger by the liner Mariposa which left Auckland to-night for San Francisco was brought ashore shortly before the vessel’s departure under a warrant of arrest from Sydney. The arrest was made by Detective Moore and was a particularly smart bne.. Acting on-advice received about nn' hour, before the Mariposa’s sailing time, he found the passenger, only on. particulars of identification, from more than 400 travellers on the liner.
The man will be charged- in., the Police Co.urt. to-morrow with alleged theft, and H.ii application will be made for his extradition to Australia.
