KIMBERLEY W.I.

♦ The Kimberley Women's Institute held its monthly meeting recently. Mrs. Pickering (President) was in the chair and welcomed all members and visitors. When the business concluded, the meeting took the form of a social afternoon, when the opportunity was taken to farewell Mrs. Nees, a prominent member of the institute, who is leaving to reside at Hutt. Songs were sung by Mrs. McDonell and Mrs. Robinson, while the entertainment committee staged a play-reading, all items being very much enjoyed. The social competition was won by Mrs. J. Griffiths. The ordinary monthly competitions were as follows : Best six. vegetables, Mrs. J. Griffiths 1; best; sand posy, Mrs. Evans 1, Mrs. Small 2,j Mrs. Griffiths 3. The best flower in £he' garden resulted in a win for Mrs. 'Smith, with Mrs. J. Griffiths second. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses and the meeting closed with the sinking of "Auld Lang Syne" and the National Anthem.
