AUCKLAND CANDIDATES (By Telegraph—Press Association). AUCKLAND, Last Night. It was announced to-day by the deputy-chairman of the Auckland Diviison of the New Zealand National Party, Mr. J. W. Kealy, that in tne majority of cases the final selection of candidates for the Auckland electorates would not be made for some ./eeks. The party’s constitution provides for selection by the party’s supporters in each electorate and, with the object of giving each elector who is opposed to the present Government an opportunity of taking part in the selection, each committee has been advised that 2000 members should be enrolled in the electorate concerned before a choice is made. . To this end active organising is now being carried out, and the membership, said Mr. Kealy, -as rapidly increasing in ev,pry electorate in the division. It was felt by the party that, when every National candidate at the time of his selection was assured of the definite support of at least 2000 electors, it could be said with confidence that the selection had been made in the most democratic manner possible, and that the chosen candidate was one entitled to votes of those who desired a change of Government. INVERCARGILL AND AWARUA INVERCARGILL, Last Night. The name of Mr. F. G. Hall-Jones. solicitor, will be submitted to a meeting of the Invercargill branch of the N.a tional Party on Tuesday as the Liberal National candidate for Invercargill ai the general election. It is understood that he is the only nominee. Mr. G. E. T. Dorman, public accountant, and a member of the City Council, has announced his intention 'to contest the Invercargill seat as an independent. Mr, T. V. Hardy, of Underwood, secretary of the Awarua I.a hour Representation Committee, intends to be a can didate for Awarua, but he has not yet been endorsed by the national executive of the Labour Party.
