COMPENSATED PRICE.

ADOPTED BY NATIONAL PARTY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.! ELTHAM, Last Night. Although the National Party has no apparent organisation in the Egmont electorate and up to very recently nothing had been done to select a candidate to stand in its interests to take the place of Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, the sitting member, who announced some months ago he would not be seeking reflection, it is now officially stated that those whose political views are opposed to Labour will hold a meeting at Kaponga next week, at which the nomination of a candidate will be discussed. Several names have been mentioned, but no definite announcement by anyone has been made. Mr. Wilkinson will be at the meeting next week and will then announce his intention. Interviewed to-day, Mr. Wilkinson said that the meeting would take placei and he would be there, but it was his intention at the meeting to ask that another candidate be found to contest Igmont, as several able men were available. Mr. Wilkinson also stated that there was at least one plank in the national policy he could not subscribe to, and he had to consider his position with regard to the party. He was, of course, opposed to the socialistic policy of the Labour Government.

It is understood that the plank of the e National Party Mr. Wilkinson cannot subscribe to is the compensated price for farm produce,, recently accepted by the leader of the Opposition, Hon. A. b Hamilton. £) No announcement has been made yet a !as to the Labour candidate for Egmont. 1 but he is almost certain to be Mr. J. 3 ) Ross, who was unsuccessful in 1935.
