NO MEDIATION OR ARMISTICE.
SPANISH ' DECLARATION. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright) (Received Tuesday, 7.20 p.m.) BARCELONA, Nov. 23. There will be no mediation and there is no prospect of an armistice in the Spanish conflict according to a statement by the Press Department of the Presidency Council of Ministers.
EXPELLED FROM FRANCE. (Received Tuesday, 6.30 p.m.) PARIS, Nov. 22. Forty-five sympathisers and agents of the Spanish nationalists were expelled from France at the week-end. They included the Marquis de Caviedes, the alleged head of General Franco’s intelligence in France. LONDON, Nov. 22. The Daily Telegraph’s Pans correspondent says: “Charged with illicit arms traffic involving the shipment of several thousand grenades to Spain several months ago, 11 extreme Leftis appeared in the Lyons Court. The ringleader was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment and three others to suspended sentences. The remainder were acquitted on the ground that they acted in good faith, carrying out the orders but not knowing the destination of the grenades.

PULL POWER FOR BRITISH OFFICIAL. (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 23. The British Government has raised the rank of Mr. J. H. Leehe, Charge d ’Affaires at Valencia, to Minister Plenipotentiary. The Australian Associated Press understands this action was taken to placate the Spanish Government which protested against Mr. Hodgson’s appointment.
