O ’Gorman’s punching power alone determined his bout with Neame. Sheridan gave a finished display against the clever Gisborneite, Thompson, while Moran probably had the barest margin over Greaney, whoso; showing after early being floored was one of the pluckiest seen here.

Kelly displayed remarkably solid punching power in defeating Tonks. W, Lister’s showihg against the Taranai tyro, Jones, recalled his brother Harry’s strenuous infighting methods.

The New Zealand Boxing Association conference was held this morning, Mr. A. Beban presiding. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Gisborne Association president; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. Beban (Greymouth), A. Stacey (Christchurch); appeal committee, Messrs. C. Sanders, V. R. Meredith and E. A. Craig. The council, insurance fund treasurers, auditor, secretary and treasurer were all re-elected by 64 votes to 62. The next championships were allotted to Gisborne.

Mr. Sceats, the Oamaru delegate proposed a motion that the conference urge the Minister of Health and Education to have an investigation made into the desirability of placing sports on a basis in schools to be taught by teachers with the same status as other subjects. The motion was carried unanimously. A Palmerston North remit that associations conduct professional contests on a percentage basis only was lost. It was decided that the council investigate the procuring of adequate insurance cover for all amateurs from insurance companies.
