LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.
FOURTH ANNIVERSARY. Marking the completion of four years of successful activity, the League of Mothers celebrated its fourth anniversary this week in the Oddfellows’ Hall, which had been effectively decorated by the committee for the occasion. Mrs. O. E. Thorpe, the League welcomed the guests. The President, Mrs. A. Hinde, expressed much pleasure in extending ;a welcome to .so many visitors. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Goldsmith, Kerslcy, Cameron, Nye, Dennis, Hunter and Andrickson.
Mrs. Hodgson delighted her audience with a pianofore solo, Mrs. Hinde following with a humorous recitation, entitled the “Mouse Trap.” Mrs. Mudgway sang a song that was greatly appreciated, as also Avere two cello items by Miss Nation. During the afternoon tea the birthday cake Avas cut by the President, the candles being lit by the secretary, Mrs. T. Read, and extinguished by the treasurer, Mrs. G. Read, and VicePresidents, Mesdames Closey and Thorpe. Greetings and good wishes for the future success of the League of Mothers Avere then giA r en by representatives of all the Church Guilds and Avomen’s organisations of Levin. A much appreciated A'oeal item Avas rendered by Mrs. Mew, after Avhich Mrs. T. Read gave a reading entitled “Mother’s Day.” A play reading giAmn by Mesdames Hinde, Read, Closey, "Young and Treen, all members of the League of Mothers, Avas thoroughly enjoyed. The reading of the League prayer brought a very happy afternoon to a fitting close.
