KING GEORGE V. MEMORIAL FUND.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —The Government hopes, with their own contribution, to raise a fund of £200,000 for the establishment of tour children’s health camps in the Dominion as a suitable memorial to his late Majesty, King- George V., whose memory is held in affectionate respect in every part of New Zealand. The proposal has been very well received in quarters and some large grants and donations have been made. If, however, the is to be entirely successful, it will not be without the support of the people of New Zealand generally, subscribers who can only give the small amounts as well as those who can afford the larger dona-. tions. Three things in connection with the matter are very apparent —(1). A memorial to the memory of our late King George V. is most fitting, and very worthy of the support of all loj’al New Zealanders; (2). The provision of children’s health camps is quite an appropriate way of providing such a suitable memorial, which also in itself, is a very desirable undertaking, for it will bring to thousands of our children benefits which may last for the term of their lives; (3). Now is the time to contribute. The lists are open, and subscribers’ names are wanted, be the gift large or small. Levin and district have never been behind in the support of any really good cause, and I feel confident that the present patriotic and humanitarian appeal will be met with the generosity which iw characteristic of the district. Tours etc., P. W. GOLDSMITH, Mayor.
