INSTANCES OF PROFITEERING. The News-Chronicle, London, has been offering payment ofr letters giving authenticated cases of ''coronation pioliteering.” Following are selected cases:— Room overlooking the coronation procession route to be let for the day at a price that works out at £52 an hour. . . . Flat to let for a month at £sl a day. . . . Bed-and-breakfast for 30/- a night ar a small hotel where the normal charge is S/6 a night . . . "I work in a well-known firm of West End agents. We have flats with two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom (normal rental £5/5/- a week), to let at £ls/15/- and £2l a week. One way landlords are going to try and make a rich harvest out of' die coronation is tnis;— "They will refuse to allow tenants on the route to make any gain out of letting their premises for views of the procession except by turning them over to the landlord, who will arrange letanything from £2/2/- a seat to £152/10/- a room.” "On February 3rd I wrote to an address in N.W.I, asking for terms for bed and breakfast for a week from May 14th or 15th (after Coronation Day for myself), wife and two children, aged 11 and 7. "I got a reply saying 'my terms Would be £5/5/- each adult and £3/3/each child for bed and breakfast.” "Sixteen guineas for bed and breakfast for two adults and two children.”
