ANTHONY EDEN SUFFERING FROM CHICKENPOX.
PREVENTED FROM ATTENDING
CABINET,
STILL PREPARING FOR GENEVA,
(British Official Wireless.) Received Thursday, 7.30 p.m. RUGBY, Sept. 2,
The attack of cnickeiipox from which Mr. Anthony Eden is suffering is not serious, and he will be in touch with nis department by telephone. He expects to be fully recovered in time to lead the British delegation to the League Assembly. The indisposition, with the restrictions it necessitates, has come most inconveniently at a time when lie has a heavy programme of work before mm in connection with the forthcoming League meetings, at which the question of League reform will come up for consideration and the negotiations arising from the communique of July 23. The Foreign Secretary, however, although away from his desk, will not depart from his intention of devoting the next fortnight (o preparations, through diplomatic channels, for a live-Power conference.
The indisposition prevented his attending the Cabinet meeting to-day, the two sessions of which lasted together over four hours. Several other Ministers, including the Prime Minister, were absent. It is presumed the meeting concerned itself with the international questions, which have been under review in recent weeks by a Cabinet committee.
