HOODOO ON SHIP.
CREW SUFFERS DEATH, ILLNESS, AND ACCIDENTS. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) .PERTH, August 4. A remarkable sequence oft misfortune has attended the Court lino freighter Nollington Court, of 3774 tons. Trouble began while the ship was 'in Sydney, unloading lumber from Vancouver. The chief steward fell and broke his leg. He was taken to hospital where he underwent a further operation for appendicitis. He rejoined the ship in Melbourne, but had again to seek hospital attention. The ship sailed for Durban without him. A fireman who had injured his foot was also left behind. Midway in the Australian Bight, Captain J. G. Dodds, who was 48, and making his first voyage as master »f the vessel, died suddenly. The chief officer, Mr. Proctor, took command and committed the master’s body to the deep. Then the chief officer became indisposed and the second officer, Mr. K. Roberts, navigated the vessel to Albany. In the trying circumstances he was well backed by the engineers and crew to bring the' ship through bad weather.
