THE ROWLANDSON CASE.

VERDICT IN FAVOUR OF PLAINTIFF.

<By Telegitaph-Press Assn.-Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, July 13. The Judge gave a verdict in favour' •of Major Charles Rowlandson’s niece, saying that insurance policies were often used for commercial purposes and their value declined if it was established that the assurors were released from liability in the case of suicide. Moreover, if a man was hanged was it for the benefit of the community that his •dependants receive nothing under a legitimate insurance policy. The company is appealing against the decision. The case was one in which Mrs. do la Boer Bercsford, on behalf of creditors, sued the Royal Insurance Company for £43,000 in respect of her uncle. Major Charles Rowlandson, who committed suicide.
