SAW TRAIN FOR FIRST TIME.

KIDDIES EXCITED ON BAST COAST RAILWAY (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WAIROA, Last Night. Railway communication has been restored between Wairoa and Eaupunga. A train is leaving Wairoa this week with timber for the towers to be used in the construction of the Mohaka viaduct. The event caused considerable excitement among the children. One or two had never seen a train before and several had never seen one except the same engine when it was at Eaupunga about a year and a-half ago. The length of line now open contains two tunnels, one at Waihua and the other the long Mohaka tunnel, and several bridges, the Wairoa river bridge, the Waihua bridge and the big Maungatauranga viaduct. The length of line open south of Wairoa is over 20 miles. The camp at the Mohaka viaduct is now in occupation and the preparatory work for the commencement of the huge Mohaka river viaduct is in progress.
