SEQUEL TO COLLISION.

CAR DRIVER APPEARS IN COURT. As a result of an almost head-on collision about half a mile south of the Whirokino bridge on the evening of May 23rd, Moses McGregor appeared before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., in the Levin Magistrate’s Court this morning charged with having no driver’s license and with driving a. car not displaying reflectors and lights as required by the regulations. Constable Mcßae stated that defendant was driving from Foxton to his home at Koputaroa and when about half a mile south of the Whirokino bridge a collision occurred in the centre of the road. The main cause of the accident was that defendant had only one light and that the car had no reflector on it. He did not have a driver’s license. In convicting McGregor and fining Mm £2 and costs 10s for having insufficient lights and 10s costs for not holding a driver’s license, the Magistrate commented that ears of this kind were a menace on the roads.
