The total number of licensed motor I vehicles on 31st March, 193(5, was 228, 1247 as compared with 209,4(52 on 31st March, 1935, an increase of 18,78;! in number or 9.0, per cent. The number* of each of the main types of motor [vehicles included in the total in 1930 and 1935 were: Private cars—l93(s, 149,904; 1935. 13(5.009. Motor cvcles--193(5, 23,9(51; 1935, 24,440. Trucks—--193(5, 42,19.8; 1935, 38,55(5. It is noteworthy that while there have been substantial increases in private cars and trucks, the number of ■motor cycles licensed shows a fall.
During the year ended on 31st March, 193(5. 23,(589 motor vehicles (including chassis) were imported as compared with 15,439 during 1934-35, an increase of 53.4 per cent. In 1933-34 only 5152 motor vehicles were imported.
