SUSPECT CHASED THROUGH THREE STATES.
ARRESTED IN MELBOURNE POLICE NET IN QUEENSLAND MURDERS (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) Received Monday, 1 a.m. SYDNEY, April 5. The police forces of Queensland; New South Wales and Victoria, using fast cars, aeroplanes, and long-distance telephones, have been following the movements of a suspect since the double murder committed on the Queensland mail train on Thursday last. The police organisation was always a few hours behind the suspect as the latter fled south. They had the report of a man leaving the train on which the murder was committed shortly before it reached Brisbane; then of a man who left bloodstained money in a taxi. Passengers in various trains and buses were carefully checked until to-day the Melbourne police arrested a man who is alleged to have made a statement. The police in Sydney later seized a small suitcase stamped. P.M.G., which it is alleged was the property of one of the murdered men.

(Received This Day. 1(1.25 a.m.) After a strenuous chase, the Melbourne police yesterday arrested a man in a 'coffee palace i'n connection with the ((Ineenslaml mail train murder on April 2nd. The man was disguised as a woman. Later, Herbert Kopet. aged 2S, a labourer, was charged with the murder of Edward Spooring. No charge whs laid in reference to the death of Costello. It is reported from Brisbane that the condition of the conductor, Thomas Boys, is still serious. He has not yet regained consciousness.
