NO FURTHER PLAY.
M.C .C. -MANAWAT U MATCH ABANDONED. r i he match between the M.C.C. team and Manawatu, wliich was to have been continued at the Palmerston North Sportsground yesterday, was abandoned because of the heavy rain which fell during Tuesday night. It was hoped that the wicket would be dry enough by the time the second day s play was scheduled to begin, but another fairly heavy shower fell just before 11 a.m. and it was decided there would be no play before 2 p.m. In the meantime the wicket had dried out remarkably well, and, if anything, it was just as good a s it was on the previous day. A number of spectators had .assembled at the Sportsground by 2 o clock but they were advised there would bo no play, the downpour of Tuesday night having saturated the cricket clothes and gear of the mom, beis of both teams, this having been left in dressing-rooms under the unroofed stand.
