NEW PEKMANENT BODY,
ANNOUNCEMENT BY MINISTTE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night.
The establishment of a Bureau of Industry, a permanent body to assist the Government to explore and examine every possible avenue of organised development and to ensure the collaboration of all sections of the State’s activities for ihe development of the Dominion, was announced to day in au interview with the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, .Minister of Labour and Employment.
The Bureau of Industry mi I consist of adni'nistrutive deers ;u o experts at pit-sent in the .-'lain’' -mploy associated with all phases of national development. An Industries Development Board will function as part of the Bureau of ludustrv.
“For the purpose of securing a ■•o;a plcte liai mu with Cabinet, -aid tin Minister, “the functions of this section of the administration will be carried out: under Ihe guidance and direction of a special committee of Cabinet .Ministers consisting' of the Ministers of Finance, Industries and Commerce, in I La time. J’lie most important functions will be to organise and survey the necessary procedme for the expansion of industrial development in every direction and to examine and report on all projects that are formulated with he hope of assistance from the Government. This step doesn’t involve any increase in administrative cost. ’ ’
The Minister said that in addition it was intended to utilise the advantages of the proposed bureau (lirough expert sub-committees for helpful consultative contact with representatives of labour and industry, and for examining any proposals submitted to it. These proposals do not require legislative enactment, ns Gil statutory provision alreadv exists
