POLITICAL LANDSLIDE IN YESTERDAY’S

POLLING.

Linklater Elected for Manawatu.

Labour Wins the Otaki Seat.

In one of the biggest political landslides in the history of the Dominion the Nationalist Government was overwhelmingly defeated and for the first time a Labour Party has been returned to power. Three Ministers, Sir Alexander Young, Hon. J. Bitchener and Hon. 0. E. Macmillan have been beaten, and not a single member of the Democrat Party was returned. In an exciting contest for the Manawatu seat Mr J. Linklater retained his seat with a majority of 60 votes. In the Otaki electorate Labour won the seat, Mr L. G. Lowry having a decisive victory with a majority of 1729.
