GENERAL STRIKE.

SEAMEN REJECT AWARD. RIG UPHEAVAL THREATENED. 4By Telegraph—Press Association.) Received Tuesday, 2 a.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 26. The Sydney and Melbourne branches of the Seamen’s Union have decided to refuse work under the new award which comes into operation on December 1, which means that working seamen will automatically be withdrawn from vessels as they reach their home ports after that date. Another maritime upheaval is thus threatened. The committee of management of the Sydney seamen’s branch urged that no action should be taken until the result of the plebiscite concerning acceptance ol the award became known but this proposal was rejected by a large majority.
