IHAKARA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
SEPTEMBER MEETING. A large gathering of members attended the September meeting °f the ihakar Women’s Institute, held on Saturday last. Airs Lancaster presided and welcomed the assembly, which included one new mem Iter. After business had been dealt with, a demonstration of lamp shade making was given by Airs J. Bowker, who' was accorded a most hearty vote of thanks by the gathering. The points competition for brasswork was won by -Miss .Parsons, with Airs Hustler second and Airs Horne third. Jn the junior section Aliss Speirs gained first award, and Aliss Lancaster second and third. The honours for a social half-hour competition (naming motor cars) were shared by Aliss Hazel Burling and Aliss Steptoe. The sponge sandwich competition was won by Airs H. Y. Hudson. The hostesses for the afternoon were ALesdames Cottle, Fowler, Burling and Eoddy, who served a most delectable afternoon tea, following which the singing of the National Anthem concluded the meeting.
