Compensation amounting to £l3B wasawarded Irwyu Turner, a shearer, of • i French Pass, by the Arbitration Court in a reserved judgment to-day in .an action against Hcrvey Richard Duncan, a brewer, of Nelson. Plaintiff was endeavouring to start the engine.in defendant's shearing shed when the , cranking handle came out of the socket and struck him on the knee. Compensation was based on the average earnings during the shearing season though for the greater part of the year h« -worked for another employer at much', lower wages.
