DERAILED TRAIN STOPS ON TOP OF BANK

(By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) Received Sunday, Midnight. SYDNEY, July 14.

A train derailment occurred on the Western line 23 miles from Bourke. Twelve carriages, a heavy oil tank and a brake van ploughed up the permanent way, doing considerable damage. Forty-eight passengers were hurled on top of one another, but all escaped with a severe shaking and shock. A portion of the train halted on the top of a high embankment and would probably have fallen down 'the other side but for tho fact that the recent rain had softened the ground and the wheels became deeply embedded, retarding their progress.
