Prepared to Duel on Other's Behalf

CHALLENGE TO ITALIAN. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) Received Friday, 7.15 p.m. ROME, July 12. Captain Fanelli, who recently challenged Major C. B. Attlee (deputyleader of the Labour Party) to a duel, objecting to remarks of his on the Abyssinian dispute, has received from Edward Dickinson, of London, a challenge to a duel with Dickinson, who wishes to take Major Attlee's place. In a letter to Fanelli, Dickinson says: "As a duel is evidently your idea of satisfaction, I trust you will allow an Englishman jealous of his country's history and traditions to take up the challenge. I trust you will speedily reply, enabling suitable arrangements to be made." Fanelli is at present out of Rome. His friends say he is not likely to accept, as his quarrel is with Attlee. Received Friday, 7.15 p.m. LONDON, July 12. Dickinson is a well-built six-footer, living at Highbury. Interviewed, he said: "If this fire-eating fellow wants to eat fire, I will give it to him to eat. He can have his choice of weapons."
