DONATION TO LEAGUE OP BED CROSS SOCIETIES. GESTURE OF INTERNATIONAL GOODWILL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. At a meeting of the Dominion Executive of the. Red Cross Society, Mrs. T. H. Lowry, Hawke's Bay, made an offer of a gift of £IOOO, explaining she desired it to be forwarded as a donation from New Zealand Red Cross to the Secretariat of the League of Red Cross Societies in Paris.
She gave as her two main reasons for making the gift: First, the recognition of the wonderful assistance given to New Zealand by the League at the time of the Hawke's Bay earthquake; and secondly, as a gesture of international goodwill. She expressed the hope that her example would be followed by others in a position to so, by subscribing to the New Zealand Society's funds, mentioning particularly the" needs of the Junior Red Cross movement, as a means of promotion of international peace, children's health camps, and help for erippled children.
