AGGRESSIVE BATTING IN HAMPSHIRE GAME AFRICAN TOURISTS DOING WELL (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) LONDON, May 23. The South African crickters were in a strong position at the conclusion of the second day’s play in their match against Hampshire at Southampton. The county’s innings closed for 197 and the tourists, who scored 304 on the first day, had made 197 for four wickets in their second innings when stumps were drawn. In making top score for Hampshire Lowndes played an aggressive innings. He hit three G’s and four 4/s, and treated all the bowlers with scant respect. There was a collapse half-way through the innings and Vincent and Crisp disposed of the tail-enders cheaply. In the Africans’ second innings Rowan was missed behind the stumps soon after he went in and he showed his appreciation of the escape by playing a spirited innings. Cameron was also in a bright mood. Ho rattled up 50 in 40 minutes, hitting;, eight i’s and then lifted Boyes over the fence for 6.
